Games you may wanna try : The Sexy Brutale

This week, I wanted to try a new format rather than the big analysis articles we post and decided to start the “Games you may wanna try” short format. It will allow you to discover little known games we liked, spoiler free, and maybe make you want to play it too. I hope you like it !

Welcome to The Sexy Brutale, a sumptuous masked ball hosted by a mysterious Marquis in his huge mansion. In this adventure puzzle video game developed by Cavalier Game Studios and Tequila Works who will be celebrating their 1 year anniversary in a couple weeks, you’ll have to investigate and resolve all the murderous events which take place during this bloody party.

To save everyone and discover what really happens beneath the mansion, you’ll have to prove your smarts as well as discretion. A strange power makes the morbid day repeat itself every 12 hours, so you will have all the time in the world… And no time at all !

Plunge into a meticulously crafted work

What made me really love this game is its ambiance ! As soon as you launch the game, a fantastic electro-swing song immerses you in a colorful and elaborate universe. Every room is superbly decorated and filled with details that will teach you a lot about it.

And you’ll see that it’s really useful to be observant and to have knowledge of the world in which you evolve to save all the mansion's guests and uncover the mystery around these deaths.

You’ll always have a great sense of discovery while you investigate through the many corridors and rooms that aren’t necessary for completion of the mission but make the entire mansion feel coherent.

But muster your patience

The only drawbacks I could find is the rhythm of the game which is pretty slow and repetitive at times despite it being a short game (it took me 5 hours to finish and I haven’t unlocked all the secrets yet). It’s a bit of a shame, but you’ll often repeat a similar pattern if your only wish is to rush through the story. In addition to that, I didn't feel any time threatened by the baddies you encounter so I kinda dropped out of the sneaking part of the game.
